MacFader doesn’t track you.

The app has no account, no analytics and no crash reporting. The one thing it talks to the internet for is your license, described below, so nothing about how you use your trackpad leaves your Mac.

What it reads

  • Touches on your trackpad, to see when a finger slides along an edge or double-taps a corner. They are used on the spot and never stored.
  • Which app is in front, so it can stay off in the apps you picked.

What it changes

  • Volume, display brightness and the keyboard backlight.
  • Media keys and a few system actions you assign to a corner, such as Mission Control or sleeping the display.

Accessibility access

Media controls and “ignore the edges while typing” need Accessibility access in System Settings. Volume, brightness and mute work without it.

Buying MacFader

Payment happens on a checkout page run by Dodo Payments, the seller of record. Dodo collects what it needs to take payment, send your receipt and issue your license key. This website never sees your card details and keeps no record of your purchase.

Your license

MacFader contacts the license server, run by Dodo Payments, in three cases: when you activate your key, about once a week to check that it is still valid, and when you deactivate it. Each request carries your license key, the activation’s ID and your Mac’s model (for example Mac14,5). It does not carry your name, your files or anything about how you use MacFader. Like any server, it sees your IP address. If you are offline, MacFader keeps working for 30 days from the last successful check.

Your settings

Your choices are saved in the app’s preferences on your Mac, and your license key in its Keychain. Neither is sent anywhere except as described above.

This website

Everything above is about the app. This website, macfader.meticha.com, uses Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors find and use it: which pages are read, how far people scroll, where they click, and whether a visit ends in a purchase. Both set cookies and see your IP address, browser and device type, and approximate location. Clarity records anonymised sessions with form fields masked. Neither receives your card details or your license key. You can block them with your browser’s privacy settings or a content blocker, and the site works the same without them. Their own policies apply: Google and Microsoft.
